Top 6 Picnic Spots in Canberra

Picnics are a great way to see a city, spend time with friends, or have an inexpensive celebration.

After living in Canberra for over a decade, I went on many picnics in many different locations. Some were with groups of friends or family, and some were dates with my partner.

I found that there are plenty of undiscovered or underrated places in Canberra with beautiful scenery where you could enjoy a picnic.

Packing for South East Asia + Printable Packing List

When trying to figure out what to pack for my trip of 6 weeks to South-East Asia, it was very hard to find any packing lists. There are plenty for Europe and America, but only a few for South-East Asia. In particular, there’s barely anything for countries like Cambodia.

My 6 week trip would primarily be in Cambodia, but I was also going to have a stop over in Kuala Lumpar, and possibly go to Vietnam and Thailand. I expected that it would be hot over there, but I also had to prepare for the cold weather in Australia for my departure and arrival back in the country.

My Christmas and New Years break consisted of a relaxing time on the South Coast of New South Wales. We had to do a lot of visiting family, as is expected at that time of year.

On our way from Potato Point to Pambula, we decided to have a quick stopover at Tilba Tilba. I had never been before, but every time we drove past, my partner would always say that I would love it – it’s a vintage town filled with tea and handmade goods. I replied: “you had me at vintage!”

Italian Dinner with a Sea View at Sorriso Italian

One of my favourite things about travelling away is eating out at new and exciting places. My recent getaway to the South Coast was no different.

It’s often super busy at this time of the year up and down the East Coast. Without a doubt, most of Canberra leaves the territory around Christmas Eve and will stay down there until New Year’s Day (or whenever they have to return to work). Because of this, the accommodation is usually expensive and you often need to book a year in advance. We were lucky that we have family we can stay with (and have the Christmas celebrations with too) so we decided to capitalise on that this year and stay longer than our usual Christmas dash.
