After years of seeing many beautiful ladies compete in pin up parents and competitions, I decided on entering the Rock Ballarat Pinup Competition in 2020.
But I soon learnt it’s not as simple as just entering the competition…
I obviously had to figure out what to wear, how I would do my hair and makeup, what to do on stage, how I’ll get to and from Ballarat… but first stage was the entry part.
I needed to decide on what picture to use to enter the comp – something that represented me as Vintage Barbie.

Unlike some contestants, I wasn’t going to have a professional photo for the entry, so I knew I would have to rely on pictures taken throughout this year, take a new photo.
I went through my photos and couldn’t find anything I would be happy to use to enter. Many were too old and I wanted something that was more up to date and also had a pinup pose too.
I decided to take new photos with my yellow Hell bunny skirt that says “vacation” and “paradise” printed all over it. I paired it with my cute bright yellow pinup style top. I added in some big costume jewellery, victory rolls, winged liner and bright lip, and I was ready to go.
I ended up using one of the photos below for my entry and I’m glad I did. These pictures show me in a typical Vintage Barbie style with a mixture of pinup and modern styles.
I was really excited I was chosen as a contestant, but after that the hard work began… figuring out what to do on stage!
