I usually will make an excuse to buy new clothes. But being pregnant is a whole new ball game: literally none of my clothes fit me like they used to.
Many of my clothes stopped fitting around 3 months pregnant when my bust grew. Some clothes I could still fit into, but I pretty just had to say goodbye to anything without a stretchy waist or with a zip.
I was actually looking forward to adding some maternity pieces to my wardrobe. So I began my online shopping…
But for the most part it’s been a bit disappointing. A lot of maternity items are fairly plain and simple. This is definitely not my regular style.
Then the maternity items that have prints are often a bit… well, frumpy looking. No wonder some ladies don’t like being pregnant when what you’re wearing might feel you like a frumpy waddling baby carrier!
So I’ve looked at a few of my favourite brands to see if there are some options.
Although my favourite brand, Review, does not have a specific maternity range, it does have some pretties that are great for pregnant women.
Usually I buy Review dresses that are the “prom” style with a fitted waist, a zip up the back or side, and circle skirt. They work so well with my vintage styles and look pretty with a petticoat underneath.
But I came across the pretty Daiquiri dress and loved the print so much I decided to buy it. In my Style On Sunday post with this dress, I am actually about 11 weeks pregnant, and just started seeing a belly grow (although you may not see it in this post!)
With the success of that dress, I decided to buy another Ponte style dress from Review.
I was unsure about the ditsy style print on Delft Blue Ponte dress when I saw it online, but with many clothes no longer fitting, I decided to buy it anyway. And I’m really glad I did!
It’s stretchy but because it’s the high quality of Review clothes, it’s not going to become see through like other cheaper brands’ clothes do.
The style fits right into my pinup and vintage wardrobe, and I actually love the print in real life. It’s one of those examples where the online photos don’t do the dress justice.
The best part is, I can still wear it after I have bub too.
So here is me, at 25 weeks, wearing my newest favourite edition to my maternity and general wardrobe.
Dress: Review Australia | Belt: Review Australia | Shoes: Bettie Page | Earrings: Resin Doll | Necklace: Vintage | Bag: Colette by Colette Hayman | Sunglasses: Cotton On
