Since I have moved to Melbourne, I’ve really noticed that I don’t have my photographer (aka my sister) around to help me with photos for my blog.
I am slowly training my boyfriend in the art of blog photography, but he has only just learnt that you need to take more than three photos… The next step is for him to take photos at different angles, but this might take a while.
So, unfortunately, I have to use a self-timer on my iPhone to take photos for the time being. This means that the photos are a bit blurry and not the best quality, but I’ll add a subtle vintage filter to them and it will have to do for now!
Now that I’ve got that PSA/explanation out of the way, let’s get onto what this post is all about: Jeans
As I am a curvy girl, I often find it difficult to find jeans that fit.
I often find that jeans are too tight around the thighs and butt, and a little big in the waist. Or if they are classified as “curvy” it’s for those girls with Kardashian-hourglass type bodies. Unfortunately, that is not me.
Sometimes I find that jeans won’t even go up past my mid-thighs. It ends up being a disheartening shopping experience which makes me feel upset and not want to shop anymore.
Unfortunately, I have also had similar trouble with vintage jeans.
So that is why these days I shop for jeggings or anything labelled “super stretch”. I also size up because I would rather be comfortable than worry about the number on the clothes tag.
The good thing is that the modern high waisted styles fit perfectly into my style of vintage, pinup and retro. Luckily I can get away wearing the modern styles of jeans with my vintage styles.
This outfit shows just how easy it is to mix vintage, pinup and retro styles with contemporary styles and fast-fashion clothes.
The grey wash on these jeans gives it a nice vintage feel. Because they are high waisted, they go with lots of different styles. It’s also easy to mix them with vintage accessories like my pink vintage handbag. Add in some winged eyeliner and victory curls, and voila: modern pinup style!
So even on cold days when I’m not wearing the typical vintage or pinup style, I still can feel like a pinup with makeup, hair styling and accessories!

Jeans are the most depressing thing to shop for!! I’m with you on this one. I have a small waist and curves so biting ever fits unless it’s a little tight. Where do you get great stretch stuff that isn’t too thin (sometimes jeggings don’t look nice dressed up)
By the way I am LOVING this look! Xx
Photo tip, get a tripod and a Bluetooth remote. You can conceal the remote in your hand so you don’t see it. But then you can get into place and not worry about a timer.
I’ve got those for my dslr camera but have lost the tripod in my move interstate 😦 They are definitely good ideas and a good photo tip tho!
