Pelicans Landing Williamstown

Since moving to Melbourne, I’ve been doing lots of exploring around Melbourne. I’ve also been venturing to places outside of the city centre.
There’s so much on offer in Melbourne that it’s often hard to pick what to do.
One weekend we decided to take a trip out to Williamstown on the west of the city.
When we arrived, I felt like we must be in country Victoria. It definitely had a nice coastal town feel to the place.

We were really keen to be by the water, so we decided to have lunch and drinks at Pelicans Landing.
Pelicans Landing is part of the Quest apartments building, and overlooks the piers and jetties that stretch towards Port Melbourne.
It was fairly busy for a cold winter Sunday lunch, so we were lucky to get a table by the window.
I had difficulty figuring out what I could eat on the menu as there was no indicator what was gluten free. I had to ask the waiter about the gluten free options. He only knew of one, which was the calamari without the crumbs. I decided to go with that because, well, I didn’t have much choice.
The bar staff were quite friendly.
There were 5 of us enjoying food, but the food unfortunately came out at all different times.
The oysters were delicious but I’m biased because I love oysters!
The mussels were not as good as they looked. There was something missing in the flavour of the broth, and there didn’t seem to be enough bread given to soak up that broth.
I was very surprised at how much calamari I had. In fact, I couldn’t finish it. I found it to be very tender and delicious. Definitely something I would get again.
I am also told that the bartered Fish and chips was quite good, and once again, quite filling.
I was also told that the spicy spaghetti marinara was ok, but it was as spicy as the menu promised. It did however appear to have quite a variety of seafood including prawns, pippies, calamari, crab and mussels.
Overall, the food was good but not great. The service seemed to match the food. Despite this, I would likely return because of the beautiful view and great atmosphere.
