The Unbelievable Coco&Eve Like A Virgin Hair Masque Exposed – Plus Giveaway

If you love hair and beauty products, you have probably no doubt come across ads for Coco & Eve Like a Virgin Hair Masque from beauty bloggers and Instagram affiliates.

The mask promises to restore your hair to its natural like state, help prevent split ends and leave a smooth, glossy texture.

But does it deliver?

The product promises a variety of good benefits, like restoring damaged hair, improving hair texture and shine, and treating split ends.

I decided to purchase the product and try it out for myself.

So this is not a sponsored post. I purchased the product out of my own money, but I should say that I did not purchase the full tub with free detangler. Ufnrotanetly when you are unemployed, there is only so much yo can spend on beauty products…

So I bought the gift set size tube which has 30ml of the product.

The directions state to wash hair first, then apply product over, detangle, leave on for about 10 minutes, then wash out.

You can also use a little bit longer for dry and brittle hair. Or you can use it one dry hair – it would need to be left in for at least 20 minutes and then can be washed out.

My hair is pretty dry at the moment due to it being summer, having long curly-wavy hair, and also because I have bleached blonde hair.

I decided to take the traditional route and wash my hair first. I didn’t use a sulphate free shampoo, because, my funds have limited my choices in shampoo recently. But I digress…

When I opened the product it smelt divine! It did not have an overpowering smell but also reminded me of the smell of hair salon products. I quite liked it and was excited to have my hair smell like this too!

I applied the product, focussing on the ends first and working my way to the roots. I didn’t apply too much at the roots because I often get greasy roots with belayage hair. Then I combed with a wide tooth comb and left it in for 10 minutes.

After 10 minutes I washed out the product and could feel how nice my hair felt.

I was getting really excited.

Then I realised that I appear to have had an allergic reaction to the product! The skin on my neck, collarbone and décolletage was red and inflamed.

I was pretty shocked about this as the product claims to be natural and consisting of 5 main ingredients.

I later read the ingredients list and there appears to be benzoyl alcohol in this product. I recall that there was benzoyl-something-rather in Proactive cleanser, and I had a similar reaction to Proactive. I assume that it would be a similar reason that I had a mild reaction to Coco&Eve.

I knew it would go down and I decided to let me hair dry naturally.

I got annoyed with waiting for my hair to dry and decided to blow dry the rest and straighten my hair.

When I was done I was so surprised at how my hair looked! I only used a little bit of heat protectant spray when I dried and straightened my hair – no other product was put in my hair.

It was so shiny and safely so soft, similar to how my hair looks and feels after the hairdressers. I literally couldn’t stop touching my hair!

As you can see from the before and after pictures, my hair is noticeably different. It is a little frizzy still, but this is still less frizzy than my hair is without smoothing product.

Unfortunately my hair did not stay that way the following day.

I would definitely try this product again, but I would do a few things differently:

  1. I would buy the full tub so I could use more product;
  2. I would leave the product on for at least 5 minus more, or try the dry hair treatment option;
  3. I would definitely tie my hair up so I don’t have a reaction on my skin; and
  4. I would use it the recommended 3 times a week so I can get my hair looking nice and shiny each time I wash my hair.
