For those who don’t know what my full time job is, I am a lawyer.
Yes, a real lawyer. One that gives legal advice and goes to court. That kind of lawyer.
Not everyone has believed that I am a “real lawyer”. I think it’s because I have a positive and bubbly personality, and I love all things pink and girlie. I suppose that I don’t fit the standard “lawyer” persona.
I’m ok with that. I won’t change who am I am because I don’t fit the expected form.
This includes my fashion sense.
When I started out as a lawyer, I was concerned that I would not be taken seriously if I dressed too girlie or in my vintage styles.
It is partially true though. Until you have developed a good name for yourself, you do have to be conservative when appearing in court. This also goes for impressing prospective employers.
I also didn’t want my employers knowing about my blog – despite the fact that it brought me lots of joy and I loved every part of my blog, I still was worried about what my employer or prospective employers would think.
There are so many young lawyers in Australia right now, you need to set yourself apart from everyone else.
That is why I decided to start wearing more of my “style” to work, conferences with clients, mediations and even court.
One outfit that is definitely my style, and and an outfit I get lots of compliments on, is my pink suit set from Review.
I love the Chanel inspired feel to the tweed jacket and skirt combination.
I also feel a bit like Elle Woods from Legally Blonde!
It was definitely worth spending the money on this outfit, including my new favourite heels from Wittner!
And just like Elle Woods, I feel ready to take on anything!
